Essential Skills Course for Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and DrumsDetailed Lesson Notes, Objectives and Learning OutcomesLevels are grouped into 10 lessons. The tenth lesson for each level has a song(s) which demonstrates the skills learned in that level. The first three levels take beginners through to intermediate level of competency (Gigajam Level 3) and are suitable for the preparation of GCSE studies at Key Stage 4. Each lesson contains detailed notes that both plans the lesson for the teacher and provides the student with comprehensive notes that they can use in class and at home. MultimediaThe lessons are rich with multimedia, with every exercise accompanied by both a video clip and play along media files that enable the student to practice and develop their performance skills. Gigajam XtractorThe play-along files are designed to work with Gigajam’s highly interactive Xtractor software. This allows students to adjust the tempo of the exercises, cycle sections to practice and also adjust the settings on the full-band backing tracks. Gigajam AnalyserAnalyser software gives instant feedback to the student giving them an audible and visual analysis of their performance and an overall performance percentage score. TV ShowsThe Gigajam TV Shows come in a four double CD set packed with the 12 TV shows from the Essential Skills Course for each Gigajam instrument – guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, as first seen on the Musicians Channel, Sky Channel 475. There is one episode for each of the 10 Level One lessons, as well as an initial introductory show and a final band show, with all four instruments playing the final piece together. The lessons are presented by professional musicians in a studio setting and provide clear step-by-step instructions, as well as continuous demonstrations, using similar methods to a tutor carrying out one-to-one tuition. SongbooksGigajam Songbooks contain five pieces of music written specifically to enable students to practise the skills they have learned through their studies. The package contains an audio CD for use in a CD player, together with mp3 files and GigajamXtractor files that allow pupils to play along and record with any GigajamXtractor. The musical parts for each instrument are also contained along with instructions to guide you through the tunes. The professionally recorded CD uses real instruments and features five tracks for each song – a full track and one without each of the four instruments. Each of the songs represents a different genre within contemporary popular music and begins to demonstrate how widely the skills learned can be applied to music of varying styles; Nu Metal, Rock, Reggae, Hip hop, House. Additional Supportive ResourcesEach Gigajam course comes with a range of supportive extension activities and classroom resources that can be viewed online or downloaded. The licence allows a single workstation installation and one teacher installation.
